Fabric Options

For younger sizes we specify a slightly lighter weight so the garment does not feel stiff on a small frame, while older sizes use the full-weight fabric for abrasion resistance. OEKO-TEX testing is available for retail compliance.
Construction & Craftsmanship Details
Kids' board shorts are built with an internal elastic waist even on velcro and lace-up styles, because a child cannot reliably re-tighten a closure and a short that comes loose in surf is a genuine problem. The gusset is included as on adult styles for range of motion. Velcro uses a soft-backed marine grade with rounded corners so it does not scratch. Lace cords are short enough to avoid entanglement and have sealed tips. Seams are flatlock or double-needle with bar tacks at all stress points. Back pockets include drainage. All labelling is heat transfer.
Customization & Branding
Sublimation printing on woven polyester supports full-shell prints, engineered placements, and color-blocked yokes. Surf-adjacent motif families perform best — waves, tropical, camo, geometric, and marine life. Branding applies as rubber or silicone patches at the hem, heat-transfer logos, embroidery on older sizes, and printed inner waistband facings. Matching adult versions can carry identical artwork for family sets.
Sizing & Fit Development
Grading runs 4-16 years. Board shorts do not suit toddler sizes — the closure complexity and fabric stiffness are inappropriate below about 4 years, and trunks perform far better there. Outseam length scales proportionally by size rather than staying fixed. Waist adjustability matters more than in adult sizing because children's waist measurements vary widely at the same height, which is why the internal elastic is specified as standard.
