Boys' swim trunks are a volume product with a low return rate and a simple construction, which makes them one of the easiest categories for a kids' brand to enter. The purchase driver is print — boys and their parents choose on pattern almost exclusively — but the repeat purchase driver is durability, since these garments get dragged across pool decks and worn daily through a holiday.

Fabric Options
Recycled polyester with certified UPF 50+ is standard, holding print sharply and resisting chlorine through heavy use. OEKO-TEX testing and azo-free dye verification are available for children's compliance in European and Australian retail. A slightly heavier weight is used at the larger end of the size range where garments see more abrasion. Mesh lining, where specified, is a soft quick-dry knit.
Construction & Craftsmanship Details
Waistbands use fully encased soft elastic. On sizes below roughly 6 years we recommend removing the drawcord entirely, since loose cords are a recognised safety issue in young children's garments; an internal elastic adjuster tab is an alternative for parents who need adjustability. Seams are flatlock. Leg hems are double-needle stitched to survive repeated wear. Mesh lining attaches at the waistband only. Pockets, where fitted, use mesh bags with drainage. All labelling is heat transfer with no sewn tags. Bar tacks reinforce the waistband join and any pocket openings.
Customization & Branding
Sublimation print covers the full shell. Popular families include sharks and marine life, dinosaurs, tropical, camo, geometric, and sports motifs. Engineered placement prints, contrast panels, and color-block yokes all add design value. Print scale must be adjusted across the age range — a large placement motif designed for size 14 will not fit on a 2T panel. Branding uses heat-transfer logos, printed care labels, branded hangtags, and custom drawcord tipping on older sizes.
Sizing & Fit Development
Grading runs 2T-14 on a dedicated children's block, with both age-based and height-based charts supported. Waist elastic tension is the critical specification — too tight marks the skin, too loose and the trunk slips during play. We specify both relaxed and stretched waist measurements per size. Fit samples in a young and older size are recommended given the proportional change across the range.
Packaging & Shipping
Trunks are folded and poly bagged with hangtag and clearly visible age or height labelling. Suffocation warnings applied per US and EU requirements. Mixed age ratios per carton are supported at no additional cost. Full export documentation provided.
