Swim trunks are the highest-volume men's swim category and the entry point for almost every brand entering menswear. The construction is straightforward, the MOQ is achievable, and the print surface is large enough to carry strong artwork. What separates a good trunk from a cheap one is not the shell fabric — it is the waistband, the lining, and the hem, all of which are invisible on a product photo and immediately obvious in wear.
Styles We Manufacture
Classic elastic-waist trunks with drawcord, produced in 5, 7, and 9 inch inseams. Retro-cut short trunks with a 3 inch inseam for the fashion-led market. Square-leg and trunk-brief styles for European markets where the shorter cut dominates. Color-block panel constructions. Side-seam and back pocket configurations with or without closures. Fixed-waist styles with a partial elastic back for a cleaner front line, which suits premium positioning.
Fabric Options
Polyester spandex 85/15 is the workhorse — chlorine resistant, UV tolerant, colorfast, and holding print definition sharply through repeated wash. Recycled polyester with GRS certification is available for sustainability-positioned brands at minimal cost difference. For premium ranges we run a peached-finish microfibre with a softer hand, and a four-way stretch woven for trunks that need to behave more like a technical short. Inner linings use soft polyester mesh, and a brief-style knit lining is available where mesh is not preferred.
Construction & Craftsmanship Details
The waistband is where most trunks fail. We use encased elastic at 35-40 mm width, wide enough to distribute pressure without rolling, with a nylon drawcord and metal or moulded tipping. The eyelets are metal with a reinforced backing rather than punched through raw fabric. Mesh lining attaches at the waistband only, so it dries independently and never twists. Seams run flatlock to prevent chafing on the inner thigh. Leg hems are double-needle stitched. Pocket bags are mesh with drainage eyelets at the base, and pocket openings are bar-tacked at both ends. Side splits, where specified, receive a reinforced bar tack at the apex.
Customization & Branding
Sublimation printing covers the full shell including waistband and pocket bags. All-over prints, engineered placement prints, and color blocking are all standard. Branding options include silicone logo patches at the hem or waistband, heat-transfer logos, embroidered marks, woven labels at the center back, custom drawcord tipping with your logo, and branded eyelet hardware at volume. Care labels can be heat transfer for a tagless finish.
Sizing & Fit Development
Standard grading runs S-3XL, with extended sizing to 5XL available. Men's swim sizing varies significantly between US, EU, and Asian markets, so confirm your target market before grading — a US medium and an EU medium differ by roughly one full size. Waist relaxed and stretched measurements should both be specified, since elastic recovery determines real-world fit more than the flat measurement. We recommend approving fit on a live model in your core size.
Packaging & Shipping
Trunks are folded and packed in poly bags with hangtags at the waistband. Mixed size ratios per carton are included at no extra charge; a typical breakdown is S:M:L:XL at 1:2:2:1. Cartons are labelled by style, color, and size for direct 3PL or FBA intake. All freight modes available with full export documentation.
