A well-executed printed burkini commands a materially higher retail price than a solid, and it photographs far better for social and marketplace listings. The production challenge is placement: a burkini has large panels across the tunic, sleeves, and legs, and a print scaled for a bikini will look chaotic when it wraps a full-length garment.
Print Approaches We Offer
All-over prints covering tunic, sleeves, and leggings uniformly. Panel prints where the tunic carries the pattern and the leggings stay solid — this is the strongest-selling configuration because it balances visual interest against cost. Border and hem prints that frame the garment edges. Placement prints positioned deliberately at the chest, shoulder, or hem. Ombre and gradient effects that transition down the body. Coordinated print families where several styles share a motif at different scales, letting you build a collection from one artwork investment.
Fabric and Print Technology
Sublimation printing on polyester spandex is the core method — the dye bonds into the fibre so there is no surface layer to crack, peel, or fade, which matters enormously in a garment exposed to chlorine and UV. Print turnaround is 2-3 days once artwork is approved. Digital pigment printing is available for nylon bases where a softer hand is required. We supply a printed strike-off for color approval before bulk printing, and we recommend approving it physically rather than on screen, since screen color and dyed fabric never match exactly.
Construction & Craftsmanship Details
Printed burkinis are constructed to the same standard as classic sets — flatlock seams throughout, power-mesh lining at bust and seat, encased elastic at cuffs and waist, weighted or slit tunic hem. The additional consideration is print continuity at the seams. Where a print runs across a side seam or shoulder join, we match the pattern at the pattern-cutting stage. This is skilled work and it is the difference between a printed garment that looks designed and one that looks assembled from offcuts. Opacity is verified wet, as with all our modest swim production.
Artwork and Design Support
We accept artwork as AI, PSD, or high-resolution TIFF at 300 dpi. If you supply a concept or reference rather than production-ready art, our design team can develop the repeat, adjust the scale for garment panels, and prepare the print file — this service is included during sampling for confirmed orders. We also maintain an in-house print library of botanical, geometric, abstract, and traditional motif families that can be recolored to your Pantone specification with no additional print development cost or minimum.
Sizing & Fit Development
Grading runs S-4XL. Print scale must be checked across the size range — a motif that reads correctly on a size S tunic can look sparse on a 4XL, and we adjust placement mapping per size where the difference is visually significant. This is a detail most factories skip, and it shows on the largest sizes. Fit development otherwise follows the classic burkini process, with samples recommended in a mid and a large size.
Packaging & Shipping
Printed sets pack as three-piece units with component and size labelling. Because print collections typically involve multiple colorways, cartons are labelled by print name and size breakdown to simplify warehouse intake. All freight modes available with full export documentation.
